Was the Notorious B-I-G so broke during his Bad Boy days that he had to resort to bootlegging his own C-Ds? Former label-mate Mark Curry makes that allegation in his new book Dancing With the Devil: How Puff Burned the Bad Boys of Hip Hop. Curry claims that despite strong sales, Biggie had to sell drugs and bootlegged copies of his C-D out of the trunk of his car so he could have spending money.
Curry also claims that Puffy did not tell former Bad Boy rapper G-Dep that taxes and production contracts would be subtracted from his 350-thousand-dollar signing advance. He says that as a result, less than six months after signing the contract, G-Dep was in debt to Bad Boy and soon turned to drugs.
